The 2013 America's Cup is going to be...well...gnarly. They are sailing massive 70' catamarans that would pass a ski boat like they're standing still. Oh yeah....and they flip over! ASA, the sailing association our Sailing School is affiliated with, has something pretty cool to offer. We're sailors so naturally cruises aren't our thing, but this could be awesome! If you can't make it there in person...be sure to tune in. Sports film experts from the NFL, Nascar, and more will make this years America's Cup very exciting to watch.

Carlos on Yelp says:
What a fantastic way to explore and experience New York! We set out on a 4 hour sail and everything was top notch from beginning to end. Logan and Caroline were beyond professional, fun, knowledgeable, and attended to all of our needs. Class act! It was a great experience and I will definitely be recommending Atlantic Yachting to anyone who is visiting NYC. Keep up the great work!

Seventeen tall ships and 10 warships will sail New York Harbor and its local waterways for Fleet Week 2012 (May 23rd - May 30th).
The tall ships include the U.S. Coast Guard Cutter EAGLE; KRI DEWARUCI of Indonesia; JUAN SEBASTIAN DE ELCANO of Spain, GLORIA of Colombia, GUAYAS of Ecuador, CISNE BRANCO of Brazil, CUAUHTEMOC of Mexico, and ETOILE and BELLE POULE, both of France.
The excitement will begin on the morning of May 23 when a flotilla of tall ships and warships sails under the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge and up the Hudson River to the George Washington Bridge, where they will turn and proceed to their respective berths.
See the tall ships up close on a private sailboat charter with Atlantic Yachting.
Yesterday we sailed our fleet of boats from our winter marina in Stony Point, NY down the Hudson to the 79th Street Boat Basin. The day started out cold and rainy and ended up a perfect sunny and 70 degrees as we entered Manhattan. Now we are here and ready to sail. Our first lessons and charters go out today. Very exciting.
We've been getting all of our boats ready over the last month and the near perfect weather at the Boat Basin has us very excited for the upcoming season. In less than three weeks we'll be back here, boats in the water and ready to sail.
Over the years we've discovered a handful of great folks who make the complex world of boat maintenance a pleasure. Some are well known and others are hidden gems. They all know their game and are happy to talk about it. They can solve your problems, boat related and otherwise.
S&S is one of the worlds most sophisticated machine shops focused solely on propellers and propeller shafts and surprisingly is based in Queens, just off the BQE. They can fix anything prop related and have a good time doing it. You've never dealt with better people.
Annapolis Performance Sailing
APS is the source for all things one design and is where we source all parts for our fleet of J24s. You can get everything from lightweight racing lines to miscellaneous blocks and rigging. If you cannot figure something out, they are happy to help
Doyle makes the fastest, toughest sails on the planet and they are right in our backyard. The City Island based sailmaker can do anything from a quick repair to a completely custom build. They made the sails for the Maltese Falcon (above) and they make all of our sails as well.
The name says it all – All Inflatables provides hard to find parts and accessories for inflatables. They keep our dinghy running smooth.
These guys are so oldschool they don't even have a website (and they rarely answer the phone). BUT, if you want your outboard motor fixed right, you have to go to Island Outboard on City Island. Drive by any weekday and you're likely to find them open. No guarantees.
Stony Point Bay Marina
Stony Point Marina is just north of the Tappan Zee bridge on the Hudson River. It's the best place to keep your boat if you plan to work on it yourself.
Jamestown is the best source for boat building supplies like wood sealants and top-side paint. They stock a huge supply of boat hardware and know-how like no other.
